What's on in Portmahomack

Community spirit is strong in Portmahomack and the village takes great pride in staging a variety of one-off and annual events in celebration of friendship and true Scottish traditions. Musical entertainment is a regular occurrence, be it The Castle Hotel, Golf Club or Carnegie Hall. The last week in July is always reserved in the village calendar for the Portmahomack Gala, and Hogmanay, as you’d expect in Scotland, is a time of great celebration

Carnegie Hall

The Carnegie Hall owes its name to Andrew Carnegie, the famous industrialist, business magnate and philanthropist who helped fund its construction. The Hall’s foundation stone was laid by Mrs Andrew Carnegie and when the building was opened in 1902, the occasion was celebrated with a grand concert and dance. Some 100 years later, having been extensively renovated and refurbished, Carnegie Hall still remains at the centre of Portmahomack’s social and cultural life. Come and join one of our friendly community groups and attend our regular events and festivals.
