Community spirit is strong in Portmahomack and the village takes great pride in staging a variety of one-off and annual events in celebration of friendship and true Scottish traditions. Musical entertainment is a regular occurrence, be it The Castle Hotel, Golf Club or Carnegie Hall. The last week in July is always reserved in the village calendar for the Portmahomack Gala, and Hogmanay, as you’d expect in Scotland, is a time of great celebration
Hogmanay is a special night in the annual calendar, too, with torch-lit procession, fireworks and the chance to take part in a traditional ceilidh at the Carnegie Hall.
The village Gala is a week-long coming together as a community, featuring such events as a car treasure hunt, casino night, bingo, golf and fishing competitions, children’s sports afternoon, sandcastle competition, family quiz, family concert and much, much more. Saturday is the main Gala day.
